ur support groups are designed to provide information, education, tools, and strategies for people who want to find freedom from abusive eating behaviors. They promote a gentle, individualized process of mindful eating, growth, and change.

Support groups are held in ten-week segments, year round. We call our support groups Abundant Abstinence because we believe that freedom from your struggle with food (which is abstinence) gives you freedom to create an abundant, joyful, useful life.

Please check the "Current Programs" section
for the next available program.

Abundant Abstinence I and II

This is a support group designed to help you examine and begin to resolve your problems with food and eating. We will read together parts of Anne Katherine's book Anatomy of a Food Addiction, and will explore the origins and physical basis of your food issues. The program will help you create your own concept of abstinence, stop destructive food behaviors, manage daily food planning, and begin the process of recovery.

Abundant Abstinence III, IV, and V

Further support groups are offered for people in the process of creating a joyful and useful life while maintaining food abstinence. Group members are compulsive eaters or food addicts who have a food plan, are actively working a twelve-step recovery program, and have been maintaining consistent food abstinence or struggling with it. The group consists of practical focused discussions about your daily use of and experiences with food. Topics are created by the groups and adapted to the needs of the group members.

The group provides ample time for discussion of individual issues. Supportive contact with other group members and individual work outside of class is expected of all participants.
